town Lady or ladies ( TL ) comes rushing from south end of street, very excitable.

TL:
“Sheriff, Sheriff Stryker , that devil (Orge / despicable / vile) Vlad Vidor, that you had locked up in jail!
He ain’t no more, his gang is there now, they took your deputy and let Vlad loose. (out of the calaboose/hoosegow/jail/slammetr)
They got guns and whisky and they’re headed this way, they’re talking about killing all the men and burning down the town.
You got to do something!”

Sheriff Stryker:
“Best you find some place safe before they get here.
Take these ladies and young'uns with ya.”

The lady(ladies) can go offstage north on Main St. or go inside saloon and make ready for gun fight sequence.

Sheriff turns and looks inside the saloon and from outside the door:

Sheriff Stryker:
“You men listen up , Vlad Vidor and his gang are headed this way, I need an armed posse and I need it now.”

Someone from inside bar yells:
“Sheriff, this ain’t our fight, you the one who arrested that Lobo,
It’s up to you to do whatever needs to be done, this ain’t none of our business. (This ain’t our fight.)”

Sheriff Stryker:
“Vlad’s going to make it your business, his Diablo gang are threatening to shoot all you men and burn the town to ashes.
There’s a $5,000 reward on Vlad and $1,000 for each member of his gang members - dead or alive.
Collecting the reward sure beats being a crispy critter or collecting dust (being worm food) up on Boot Hill.”

As the Sheriff finishes his line gun shots are heard from south end of Main street, or from behind the Bank, or from the grassy knoll -area between Bank & Print Shop.

Sheriff Stryker:
“Too late men, the fights here and there will be blood.
I’m coming in too deputize you scouts, now load up and get ready to fandango with that red eyed buzzard.”

Sheriff to Deputy standing outside saloon with rifle:

Sheriff Stryker:
“Take your rifle and go hide out on the other side of the street. Don’t let them see ya, be ready to do whatever needs to be done. Do You Understand ??”

Deputy:
“I understand, Sheriff, you can count on me.”

Deputy hides in bank, after all the outlaws are lined up on sidewalk and in street he makes his way behind the crowd to the grassy knoll between Print Shop and Bank.

For safety his rifle is unloaded, he loads it when in staging area.

When the time comes he shoots from between the buildings, away from spectators.

Sheriff Stryker goes inside saloon.

Scene II

VV and his gang come out from behind Bank via the grassy knoll and make their way up to Main street.

Options:

Some gang members could egress from Elm St. and make their way to area in front of Saloon.
Gang members will be shooting in the air and hollering like the hooligans they are.
Some might be smoking fake cigars.
One or more will be carrying fake, unlit torches. Cloth wrapped around one end of a broom sticks.
One or more will be carrying liquor jugs, empty plastic bottles or gallon jugs painted brown.
When they arrive in front of the saloon some will line up on the side walk between Bank and Print Shop, others will be in the street.

Those who need too will, subject to OCP/TRD rules, reload. While doing so they will holler and carry on giving each other kudos for the jail break. Come-a ti yi yippy, yippy, yay, yippy yay! Come-a ti yi yippy, yippy, yay! ...

When ready for the showdown VV will take a slug ( Could be a slug of water which he spits away ) out of empty plastic bottle which he discards and hollers:

VV
“ Stryker, get your sorry hide out here, I wants to hear ya squeal and whinny like a colt being dragged away from it’s mama.
Get on out here now or I’ll brace the door and burn the place down around ya.
Do you hear me now?”

The Deputies file out of the Saloon, some go right and some go left. If enough actors one could go out into street from each end of line so as to almost flank the gang, this will catch them in a lazy crossfire.

One or more of the Deputies will (could) be a lady shooter carrying a shot gun.

The Sheriff is the last to exit, his position is in front of the Saloon door.
Vlad and the gang members scrutinize the Deputies, laughing, pointing and giggling like the drunks they are.

Vlad stares at the lady and throws her a kiss.

Sarcastically he says.

VV
“Look here boys, this law dawg is so scared of us he deputizes a Mammy to do man work.
She likely don’t know which end of that scatter gun to point.”

Lady Deputy:
“That’s probably the last thing those Comanche’s were thinking when they charged my cabin.
They sure ain’t thinking that way now, not by a long shot they ain‘t.”

Member of gang who has itchy fingers like Bad Bob (Stacy Keach)
In - The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972).

Outlaw:
Let me have her, Vlad, I can take her right now - she ain’t gonna shoot no one with that plow gun.
Let me do it, Vidor!”
Outlaw places his hand on his gun.

Sheriff:
“Now you men hold on, there’s no need……”

Scene III

Deputy from grassy knoll fires his long gun at itchy fingers.
Itchy Fingers is hit but still standing.
This is the queue that starts the gun fight.

The Deputies and outlaws all start firing at each other.
Some take cover behind whatever they can.
The lady gunfighter isn’t hit. She’s needed later on.
The Sheriff is hit and staggers backward into Saloon.

Option:
Sheriff is hit and staggers backward onto chair or bench while still holding onto his gun which has one or two round still in it.

Lady gunfighter or lady from Saloon comes out to aid Sheriff.
She places cloth over his injury, takes his gun and with rounds left fires at VV who is hit but not down.

Lady Gunfighter:
“You ain’t so smart mouth now about Mums are you? If I had more shot you’d feel the pain. (burn/hurt)”

VV is hit but still standing, he’s out of ammo and holsters (this is for safety) his gun(s). .

With that the gun fight is over. Some of the outlaws are dead. Some are shot but still standing.

The walking wounded will for safety holster their guns and raise their hands in surrender.

The lady gunfighter with the plow gun and another Deputy will round up the outlaws and march the outlaws off to jail.

Lady Gunfighter:
“This time you rotten scoundrels are stay’n in irons until your sinful souls meet Mr. Hemp down on Elm Street."

Town folks come in too kick the dead outlaws just to make sure and to help the deputies.

End.

Crowd applauds.

Scene IV Alternate Ending

At the end of the gunfight Vlad Vidor starts (limping) north out of town and when in front of the Law Office, a stranger, who has not yet been seen, steps out of the Print Shop.

Stranger to Vlad:
“Vidor!”

VV pauses in his tracks, looking straight ahead. His gun hand slowly reaches down towards his gun but he's careful not to touch it or the leather. . Realizing his predicament he relaxes his hand, turns slowly and faces the stranger.

Stranger:
“You remember back shooting Sheriff Bill Wallace in San Angelo ??”

VV:

That old Law Dawg was fast, I took him as best I could.
What’s that to you ??”

The actor playing the stranger has some options to help create drama.
1. He can slowly remove his hat and clean the inside band with a handkerchief.
2. Remove his glasses, wipe them clean and put them back on again.
3. Remove his glasses from pocket and put them in a case or put them on.
4. Pull his pocket watch, check the time and rewind.
5. Pull glove from his person and put it on his shooting hand.
6. Do nothing, just stand there looking determined.

While slowly creating the drama above the Stranger looks at Vlad and says:

Stranger:
“Bill Wallace saved my life at Bull Run. ( Manassas )
Bonny Bill was a friend of mine, I owe him. (dearly).”

VV:
“I’m not armed, Stranger, I’m out of lead, I ain’t loaded.”

As the stranger completes his drama he looks at Vlad and says rather matter-of-factly and not too fast:

Stranger:
“Yeah, I know, ain’t that a Dawg.”
(…an ol’ yeller Dawg)
(…with a tick)

Stranger slowly draws his pistol and (from hip) shoots VV several times.

VV knows the stranger is going to shoot him. The actor playing VV has options.
1. Go for his gun and start trying to load it, even when hit he keeps trying but goes down before loading.
2. Goes for knife and draws back to throw it at the Stranger. Too late he’s shot before throwing knife.
3. Goes for Derringer or pocket pistol from his boot or from small of his back but is struck down before bringing into play.
I have a small .32 Iver Johnson, pocket pistol, that can be used but no Derringer )
4. Just stands there looking plum mean and bad. Maybe grunting and stomping like a bull.

VV:
Goes down dead in the street.

Options:
VV may go down after being hit a couple of times but isn’t dead.
There a pause as the Stranger waits to see if VV’s dead.
VV can make motion with his hand of having a gun and shooting the Stranger or reach out with a strangle grip.
If the Iver Johnson is used the action could come open and VV points it at the Stranger in audacity.

The Stranger shoots him dead.

Stranger slowly holsters his revolver.

Stranger:
“You folks share the reward, it's a good amount. I was never here.”

Stranger walks north around side of print shop and off stage.
Town folks move to take care of Sheriff and posse members who were shot .

End.

Crowd applauds.
